Burials or Cremation

Burial

Burial is the preferred option for many cultures and religions.

If a grave, vault or crypt is already owned, then the cost of the burial, (referred to as the opening and closing fee) will be included on the final funeral account. This cost is variable. The cemetery will require the owner of the grave to authorise burial within that grave. If the person who has died is the owner of the grave, then the person who is authorising the funeral service will also authorise the burial. These forms can be signed during our meeting with you.

If a grave, vault or crypt needs to be purchased, we can help arrange that for you.

Cremation

In Australia, over 65% of the population choose cremation services. For some cultures and religions, it is their preferred option. For most, it is a cost-effective and practical alternative. Charges for a cremation include the use of the crematorium chapel for the funeral service and the cremation process - these costs are variable. Most funerals held in a crematorium chapel last for 30 minutes, however if you require a longer service or are expecting a very large group of mourners, it is advisable to pay a little extra for extended use of the chapel. We will arrange this on your behalf.

Usually, about two weeks after the funeral service, the crematorium will contact you regarding your wishes for memorialisation or collection of your loved one’s ashes.

Elite Funeral Directors will assist you in all these arrangements. We attend the following metropolitan area cemeteries and crematoria:

Repatriations

Occasionally, someone will die away from home or perhaps having lived in Australia, held a desire to be buried in their home country. In both instances, we have the expertise to co-ordinate efficient and timely repatriation of the deceased.

Through our membership of the Funeral Directors’ Association of NSW, we have ties to interstate funeral directors which enables us to smoothly repatriate between the States and Territories of Australia.

There are many components to be considered in organising repatriation. Please call for indicative costs according to your personal circumstances.

You may decide to purchase an urn; either timber matching the coffin, decorative stone, or one specifically designed to disperse ashes into the ocean. We also stock ComfortCub™, a beautiful, plush bear containing a gold heart-shaped locket, allowing you to keep mementos of your loved one close.

Merchandise

As the coffin can reflect a person's life, so too can special touches evoke meaningful memories. A simple song or collage of photos presented on DVD during the service, or printed in a booklet to be kept as a treasured memento are just some of the 'little things that matter'.

In helping you decide what is suitable, Elite Funeral Directors can organise catering for after the service where family and friends gather to share their individual memories. We also offer a variety of memory books which can be beautifully personalised with life details recorded in calligraphy.

As time moves on, you may find comfort in some of the literature we have available in our library or remember a life passed at our annual Christmas Memorial Service.
